Worship & Leadership

Worship Leaders are leaders. If I'm honest, leadership is one of the hardest areas for me to learn and understand. Not just leadership in general, but good leadership.

As worship leaders, we are tasked with the responsibility of leadership in many different forms.

-Leading people in worship

-Leading teams & other leaders

-Leading our personal and spiritual lives

-Leading by shepherding the people in our context or congregation

Most days, I don't even think about this. On the other days, It scares me. Not just the responsibility of leadership, but the fact that I often don't even think about how important it is.

One of the things I was challenged to do when I worked as a Full-Time Worship Pastor, was to keep growing in my leadership skills. I'm not here to suggest any quick formula, or 10 step plan, but one simple idea.

"Leaders are Readers".

The best way that we can begin growing as Worship Leaders is to read great books and blogs on leadership!

I'm currently starting "Courageous Leadership" by Bill Hybels. I'll keep you posted once I'm finished!

What are your thoughts? What are you reading?
